Hot-dip galvanized steel grating walkway with serrated anti-slip surface installed as a maintenance path in a solar plant

Metal grating are usually made of aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel. They are available in a variety of shapes, mesh types and sizes. Gratings are often used as anti-slip or non-slip safety flooring in plants, factories and processing facilities. Today we will talk about the walkway of galvanized carbon steel grating.

The steel grating walkway is manufactured through a series of processes, including cutting, welding and galvanizing.

The hot-dip galvanizing process involves immersing the steel grating into a bath of molten zinc, resulting in a protective coating on the surface.

Standard:

Its process meets the standard of China GB700-88 / USA ASTM (A36) / UK BS4306 (43A), and the thickness of the zinc layer is processed according to the standard of China GB/T13912-2002. Its main surface should be smooth, free of drop marks, roughness and zinc thorns, no peeling, and no missing plating. Please refer to the following table for its thickness standards.

Solaracks HDG walkway bearing bar thickness 2.75 mm with zinc coating thickness exceeding 60 microns

Solaracks HDG walkway bearing bar thickness is 2.75 mm, and coating thickness ≥60 µm, which exceeds that of its competitors. This higher coating thickness ensures a longer lifespan and enhanced resistance to corrosion and wear. Solaracks’ commitment to quality is evident in their attention to detail and their dedication to providing customers with top-notch products.

Features:

HDG grating walkway is known for its exceptional durability, resistance to corrosion, wear and low maintenance. It is capable of withstanding heavy loads and high foot traffic, making it suitable for industrial environments and public spaces. The zinc layer protects the steel from rust and corrosion and extends its service life.  Hot dipped galvanized grating has bright metal aesthetic appearance and a light structure. The open-grid design of the grating allows for effective drainage and ventilation, reducing the accumulation of water and debris. Additionally, the anti-slip properties of the grating ensure enhanced safety. It can also be integrated with other components, such as ballasts, brackets, or rails.

Size

There is no fixed standard for the common sizes of HDG grating, because their sizes depend on the specific building and project requirements.Generally, walkways are available in standard widths ranging from 300mm to 1200mm. The length of the walkway sections can also vary, with common lengths being 3000mm or 6000mm. However, it is important to note that customized sizes can also be provided based on the specific needs of the project. In terms of design, it should be ensured that the width is sufficient for people to pass, and the layout of protective facilities and safety railings should be considered according to the actual needs. Therefore, it is advisable to consult relevant professionals for the best advice and compliance in specific design.

Applications:

HDG grating walkway finds applications in various places including trench cover, drainage, platforms, and stair treads. It is used for access and maintenance purposes in areas where a safe and sturdy walking surface is required, allowing technicians and maintenance personnel to move safely across the installation. The grating’s anti-slip properties and durability make it suitable for outdoor environments.

Differences from FRP walkway:

While HDG grating walkway is made from galvanized steel, FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) walkway is constructed using composite materials like fiberglass and resin. FRP walkways offer advantages such as lightweight, non-conductivity, and resistance to corrosion and chemicals. They are typically used in industries where there are specific requirements for electrical insulation, chemical resistance, or low maintenance. In contrast, HDG Steel grating walkways are chosen for their superior load-bearing capacity and durability in heavy-duty environments.·

Overall, HDG walkway as the ideal material, we can achieve safer and more cost-effective application results. Whether it’s for industrial equipment installation, road and bridge maintenance, or public facility inspections, HDG grating is an indispensable choice. Solaracks is a professional solar mounting system supplier and always provide comprehensive one-stop services to EPC partners and receiving high praise for their reliability and respect towards customers.
