Solaracks branded installation guide with the original manual rendering of modules supported by C700Y railless clamps.

Install the C700Y system by setting out the approved seam-clamp positions, securing the roof clamps, positioning the end and mid clamps with their earthing washers, and completing the specified tightening and electrical checks. The module clamps connect directly to the C700Y assemblies, so this sequence does not include assembling continuous support rails.

Confirm the system before lifting components

This guide follows the C700Y instructions in the Solaracks Railless kliplok on standing seam roof manual, version 2.0 dated 22 May 2025. It covers the illustrated mechanical assembly and the points where bonding components enter that assembly. Use it alongside the applicable project drawings, supplied component schedule, module installation instructions and electrical design.

Check the actual seam profile, roof condition and structural acceptance before placing hardware. A roof described as “Kliplok” is not sufficient identification by itself. Confirm the clamp variant and module-frame compatibility, including the permitted clamping locations. A familiar-looking clamp does not establish a suitable connection.

Have the specified hex driver, measuring tape, marking cord or pen, spirit level, protective gloves and appropriate tightening tools ready. Check the delivery for damage and missing parts: roof-clamp assemblies, the specified roof-clamp bolts, preassembled end and mid clamps, earthing washers and grounding hardware. Resolve the tightening requirement for each connection before work starts. Arrange safe roof access and module handling with the trained installation crew; coordinate work around existing electrical equipment with qualified personnel.

1. Set out the clamp positions

Transfer the approved layout to the roof. Mark the seam locations and module boundaries, and check that the planned clamp positions fall within the module manufacturer's permitted mounting zones. Identify end-clamp positions and the locations where a mid clamp will serve two adjacent modules.

Check the layout before lifting a batch of modules into place. Do not scale distances from the manual rendering or reuse the rail spacing from a different system. If the seam locations and module mounting zones cannot both satisfy the drawing, resolve that mismatch with the design team before assembly.

Check before continuing: the roof profile, clamp type, module orientation and marked positions agree with the approved arrangement.

2. Seat and secure the C700Y roof clamps

Position each C700Y assembly at its marked seam location, following the approved engagement detail for that roof profile. The source sequence secures the roof clamp using M8 × 35 bolts. Confirm that this is the specified assembly for the supplied kit and tighten according to its applicable fastening instruction.

Keep the clamp properly seated while tightening. Do not drill additional holes, reshape the clamp or substitute fasteners to make an incompatible profile fit. The mounting surface must be accepted before the array is supported on it; a clamp cannot correct a damaged or unsuitable roof structure.

Figure 1. Original component-list photograph of the seam interface. This sample view helps identify the contact geometry; it does not establish compatibility with a different roof profile or specify a surface finish.

Check before continuing: every roof clamp is correctly seated and secured at the planned location. Check the fastening requirement for this connection separately from the module-clamp bolts.

3. Position the end clamps and earthing washers

At the end-clamp locations, press the specified earthing washer into the railless clamp's groove and slide in the preassembled end clamp, as described in the manual. Bring the assembly against the module frame during controlled placement. Confirm the washer and clamp positions against the applicable detail before the connection becomes obscured.

The manual describes a loose positioning stage before final tightening. Keep that distinction clear: a loosely positioned end clamp is not a completed attachment. Maintain the module-handling controls until the prescribed securing sequence is complete.

Check before continuing: the correct end clamp and washer are present, properly located and ready for the specified final tightening stage.

4. Position the mid clamps between modules

Place the preassembled mid clamp between the adjacent modules and fit the earthing washer below it in the prescribed arrangement. Bring the clamp against the module frames and retain it loosely for alignment, following the source sequence.

Check both sides of the connection. The clamp must engage each frame as required by the approved detail; its presence between two modules does not prove correct engagement. Do not use the clamp bolt to pull a misplaced module into alignment. Correct the positioning while the modules remain under controlled support.

Figure 3. Mid-clamp relationship between adjacent modules. Confirm actual frame engagement and washer placement against the supplied assembly instructions; hidden contact cannot be verified from this illustration alone.

Check before continuing: both module frames, the mid clamp and the washer occupy their intended positions, with the assembly ready for final securing.

5. Complete the module-clamp tightening

With the modules properly positioned on their supports, bring the end and mid clamps firmly against the frames and complete the specified Allen-bolt tightening. Use the value and method applicable to the supplied module-clamp assembly. Keep a clear distinction between a connection awaiting final tightening and one already checked.

Recheck frame engagement and module alignment after tightening. Do not transfer a module-clamp torque to the roof-clamp bolts or grounding hardware. Each is a different connection with its own applicable instruction.

Check before continuing: no positioning-stage connections remain loose, the modules are secured in their permitted mounting zones, and the completed connections have been checked and recorded.

6. Complete bonding checks and handover

Coordinate grounding-lug placement with the approved electrical layout. The manual illustrates a lug beside an end-clamp connection, but the project design must determine the required positions and connections. Have qualified personnel complete the electrical work and applicable verification. Installing a washer or lug does not, by itself, verify the bonding path.

Record the installed clamp configuration, layout, inspected connection locations and any corrective work. Keep unresolved findings open until the responsible person has completed and checked the required action. Mechanical completion and electrical verification should each have a clear record.

Check before handover: the installation matches the accepted documents, required mechanical and electrical checks are complete, and findings affecting safe completion have been resolved and rechecked. Record any remaining administrative actions separately.

Common mistakes and acceptance checklist

Watch for a roof-clamp variant selected by appearance, missing earthing washers, module clamps outside permitted zones, and loose positioning bolts treated as finished connections. Copying a diagram's support count or applying one tightening value everywhere can also create an installation that differs from the intended design.

Before handing over, confirm:

  • Roof profile and C700Y assembly match the approved selection.
  • Clamp positions and module mounting zones match the layout.
  • End and mid clamps, washers and fasteners are correctly installed.
  • Required tightening and electrical checks are recorded.
  • Photographs identify the installed arrangement and any corrected locations.

Frequently asked questions

Can C700Y be used on any standing-seam roof?

Do not infer that from the product category. Confirm the actual seam geometry and the approved clamp selection for the roof before installation.

Is loose positioning the final fixing stage?

No. The manual separates loose positioning of the end and mid clamps from subsequent final securing of the module-clamp Allen bolts.

Can the same torque be used for every bolt?

No. Roof-clamp, module-clamp and grounding connections must follow their own applicable fastening instructions. A value for one connection is not a general system value.

Can the drawing determine support spacing or grounding-lug quantity?

No. Use the approved mechanical layout and electrical design. The illustrations explain component relationships, not a project-specific design schedule.
